Description

  • 1 (5 oz) can high-quality tuna packed in water, drained
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 slices sourdough or whole grain bread
  • 2 tbsp butter or olive oil (for grilling)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine drained tuna, mayonnaise, chopped celery, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Add butter or olive oil for flavor.
  3. Butter one side of two slices of bread. On the unbuttered side, spread the tuna salad generously and top with cheddar cheese.
  4. Place another slice of bread on top (buttered side out) and grill in the skillet for about 3–4 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Flip the sandwich and cook for another 3–4 minutes until both sides are crispy and the cheese has melted.
  6. Remove from skillet, let cool slightly, slice in half, and serve hot.
