- 1 (5 oz) can high-quality tuna packed in water, drained
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 slices sourdough or whole grain bread
- 2 tbsp butter or olive oil (for grilling)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine drained tuna, mayonnaise, chopped celery, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Add butter or olive oil for flavor.
- Butter one side of two slices of bread. On the unbuttered side, spread the tuna salad generously and top with cheddar cheese.
- Place another slice of bread on top (buttered side out) and grill in the skillet for about 3–4 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip the sandwich and cook for another 3–4 minutes until both sides are crispy and the cheese has melted.
- Remove from skillet, let cool slightly, slice in half, and serve hot.
