  • 1 cup whole milk (lukewarm)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 large eggs
  • Zest of 2 oranges
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • Juice of 1 orange (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine lukewarm milk and granulated sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center, add melted butter, eggs, orange zest, and activated yeast mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter over it, then sprinkle with sugar mixed with additional orange zest.
  6. Roll tightly from one edge to form a log; slice into 12 equal pieces. Place cut-side up in a greased baking dish and allow to rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar with orange juice until smooth and drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
