  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup low-sugar marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded whole-milk mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sear the chicken for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  4. Place the seared chicken in the baking dish. Pour marinara sauce over the chicken and top with mozzarella cheese.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Drizzle extra marinara sauce on top if desired.
